Description

A warm and comforting pumpkin spice hot chocolate perfect for the autumn season, combining rich chocolate and pumpkin puree with traditional spices.


Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons raw or Dutch cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon dairy-free chocolate chips or 1/2 ounce dark chocolate bar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons pumpkin spice
  • 2 cups unsweetened soy milk or oat milk
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Gather and measure all your ingredients.
  2. Choose a medium saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  3. Combine the pumpkin puree and cocoa powder in the saucepan.
  4. Add the nut butter, maple syrup, and chocolate chips or chocolate bar.
  5. Pour in the milk and add a pinch of salt.
  6. Whisk immediately.
  7. Heat until rapidly simmering while continuously whisking.
  8. Once the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth, use an immersion blender if desired.
  9. Taste and adjust the flavors as needed.
  10. Pour into mugs and garnish as you wish.

Notes

For extra sweetness, consider adding brown sugar or flavored syrups. Ensure you’re using pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
