Description

A refreshing cocktail featuring torch-burnt mandarin oranges combined with gin and tonic for a delightful citrusy drink.


Ingredients

  • 5 mandarin oranges
  • 1 tablespoons sugar or raw sugar
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice (about ½ lime)
  • 3 ounces gin
  • 1012 ice cubes
  • 6 ounces tonic water

Instructions

  1. Slice the mandarin oranges and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  2. Pat the oranges dry and sprinkle with sugar.
  3. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the oranges for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Allow the torched oranges to cool slightly.
  5. Squeeze the juice from the oranges into a measuring cup, straining out seeds.
  6. Mix the orange juice with gin and lime juice.
  7. Fill two glasses halfway with ice, divide gin mixture, and top with tonic water.
  8. Garnish with slices of burnt mandarin.

Notes

Add fresh mint leaves or a sprig of rosemary for extra flavor. Use soda water for fizz without added calories.
