Description
A simple guide to brewing rich, chocolatey moka pot espresso at home.
Ingredients
- Fresh coffee beans (medium roast to medium dark)
- Water
- Sugar (optional)
- Milk (optional, for lattes)
Instructions
- Grind coffee to a consistency slightly finer than drip coffee but coarser than espresso.
- Preheat water in a kettle and fill the bottom chamber of the moka pot just below the safety valve line.
- Fill the filter basket with ground coffee and level it without tamping.
- Screw the top on snugly, place the pot on medium heat.
- Once the coffee starts to trickle and the sputtering gets louder, remove from heat when the stream turns pale yellow.
- Cool down the bottom chamber under cold water to stop extraction.
- Serve immediately or use the moka shot in various recipes (lattes, americanos, or desserts).
Notes
Use filtered water for better flavor. Clean the moka pot thoroughly after each use to maintain its quality.
